Regretful Reality

She sits on the pavement all day long,
regretting the things that she did so wrong.
The horrible memories are etched in her mind,
and they won’t go away, however she tries.
Her life was destroyed by a disease called AIDS,
she feels so much pain, and she wishes it would fade.
She’s young, only about twenty-one.
yet she looks so frail, and pale and worn.
In her time, she’s made mistakes,
mistakes that put her life at stake.

In secondary school, she was the girl,
the most popular one who ruled the world.
She walked around with her nose in the sky,
and she went around with every single guy.
One day, the very day she turned eighteen,
well, the danger she faced was unforeseen.
She went out with a guy who had HIV.
and he passed it on to her quite willingly.

The word spread that she had AIDS,
and on one treated her the same.
She had to drop out of school,
and no longer was she so cool.
Her rich parents became ashamed.

They said they loved her, but disowned her anyway.
She didn’t know where to go or what to do,
She wished that her situation wasn’t true.

So here she is, all alone,
Sleeping out on the cold, hard stone.
She’s learnt her lesson, that’s for sure.
She knows prevention’s better than cure.

There’s one thing that she wants you to know,
Do the right thing and just say ‘No.’
Because out there, life is frightening,
There are so many terrible things happening.

Just be careful where you go and what you do,
‘cause AIDS can destroy you, it’s really true.

Mango Rose

The old tree came down but with dignity
on strong branch’d Arms
& still not failing knees
what years of Storms & idle winds could not
the Steel-Truck passing thrice with massive Slaps
kilted & threw abashed the noble greenery
with One twisted toe
Aghast in the ancient Earth
to part company with the mud
& the Ancient house
that it nurtured & sheltered into Old Age

Knarled bark & rotting Twigs
But ohh a sturdy Trunk
that had served a thousand birds
with lovely Mango Rose
of Myriad colours shapes & sizes oer the years
A stunning Red mixed with yellow & speckled with
Gold
& green--a study in intensity
that spoke to sparkling tastebuds & delicious Chow
Now humbled but with ancient dignity
fit for the Pyre of another Noble Soul
who has nurtured many though the Years

No longer Friends with the clear blue Sky
& the passing Clouds
the chirping birds & occasional Owl, the tired Shrike
& the passing Gull & gliding Frigate Bird…
the close Chataigne & Avocado, broad leav’d senna & lime
--Time to move on – in Time we must & Ancient Nature
turns us into Dust & we move on

But the Spirit lives on
The Phoenix rises to affirm the Self
& fertile earth burgeons the split pod with strong
greenery
& new life
& we see the world much as we’ve seen it before …
but with new understanding of the blissful self:
We’re all part of this -- & this all part of Us

Love’s Journey

If you Come   When I am gone do not Grieve
for me    But remember all our Garden Walks
the Sights and Sounds that we have lov’d –
the starry Nights and full-moon flare
the buds that blossom into full-blown fruits and flowers

For Februrar is cold & You at Sea
a-shipboard on the stormy Sea to harvest the Earth
 & Oceans Stormy fare –

& Sample all the bird-peck’d fruits
for all the sweetest Nectar  to share in Natures bounty
thro all the scenes that Earth hath shown
& herbs that bloom & bless my spot on Earth…
& the hedge that goes Red again that we
shar’d the cribbing of –

the Early birds that message us at Dawn
midst all the Shades in Hades
& Wander thru the Orphic tunes in the
Gardens of Beatitude
Beyond Yamraj heavy tread free of the jail
of mortal hearts –

With loving Arms that stretch beyond
Season & Dimension
like Savitri & Eurydice, Tara & Quan Ying,
Krishna & Radha into Ananda Moksha
Thru Love that goes beyond our parting ..
into Eternal Bliss

(the sea wyf… ballad of Love’s Journey)
